Grant Scott has given his first interview as the Celtic Women’s manager. It marks a new chapter for the club as they look to climb the SWPL table.
He was officially announced as manager on 22 December. He replaced Elena Sadiku, who will go down in history as she led Celtic to their first SWPL title; she was also the club’s first female coach in its history.
Scott brings a history of his own. He led Hibs to their fourth top-flight title last season, accumulating their highest-ever SWPL points total, netting a record 90 goals along the way.
Speaking for the first time as Celtic manager, he said (@CelticFCWomen):
“It’s been fairly hectic. Obviously, there have been a lot of new faces and getting to know people, getting to know their ways.
“I think I’ve tried to do it in a sensibly approached way; we don’t reinvent things. That is really what I’ve focused on this week. A bit of getting to know the players, the staff and making sure everyone knows that their position is valued.
“I’m very much a team-based manager. It’s about more than me or more than the players; it’s also all the backroom staff, and everyone’s got to do their function to the absolute best they can to the highest quality that they can.
“And that is really hopefully where I’ll lead the team, if they are not there already. So, it’s been a lot of that this week and finding out what the methods were or any changes I want to make.”

Celtic currently sit third in the SWPL table, seven points off leaders Glasgow City. They beat Hibs 2-1 in their most recent fixture, but have fallen short in bigger games this campaign.
They’ve dropped points against City, Rangers and Scott’s former side so far this season. His appointment brings a wealth of experience as he now looks to steer them back on track and seal silverware.
They face Hibs again next, before facing Rangers in the cup semi-final on 1st February at Broadwood Stadium.
