Anthony Joseph Identifies Three Players Celtic Are Targeting. Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph has named three signings Celtic want to make in this January transfer window.

Posted on January 12, 2026 by jewsport

More than a third of the January transfer window is now gone. So far, Celtic have only been able to make one signing — and that too a loan deal — with Julian Araujo arriving from Bournemouth until the end of the season. On the other hand, three potential transfer moves have already fallen apart.

Kyogo was wanted by the club, but a move could not be engineered. Wilfried Nancy’s sacking appears to have resulted in Celtic dropping their interest in Niko Sigur. And although a deal had been agreed to sign Jocelin Ta Bi, an injury requiring surgery seems to have derailed that move as well.

So, where do Celtic go from here in this transfer window? It appears the club are still looking to strengthen in three key positions.

Anthony Joseph Names Three Signings Celtic Want to Make

Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph was recently asked whether Celtic were pursuing any other players and which positions they were targeting. In response, he identified striker (ST), right winger (RW), and right centre-back (RCB) as the club’s priorities.

Of course, having priorities is one thing — getting deals done is another. And that is where Celtic have often struggled, particularly in recent transfer windows.

The need for a striker is easy to understand. Neither Kyogo nor Adam Idah have been replaced since their departures. Meanwhile, Celtic’s interest in Jocelin Ta Bi underlines their desire to add a winger this winter. Although they now appear set to miss out on the Ivorian, rumours suggest talks are taking place over a possible loan move for Ignacio Laquintana.

Finally, adding a right-sided centre-back would help fill the void left by Cameron Carter-Vickers, who is expected to be sidelined through injury for the foreseeable future.

It remains to be seen how many of their targets Celtic can secure before the window closes. Ideally, the club would strengthen in all three positions — but whether that ambition can be realised in the coming weeks remains an open question.
