£50m Leeds & Nottingham Forest duo message Tino Livramento after Newcastle United injury return

Livramento’s return came as Kieran Trippier dropped out due to a hamstring injury. As a result, the 23-year-old came straight into the starting line-up for The Magpies as they faced a difficult test against Manchester City at St James’ Park.

But Livramento and his teammates stood up to the challenge posted by Pep Guardiola’s side as they claimed a 2-1 victory thanks to two Harvey Barnes strikes either side of Ruben Dias’ equaliser in the space of six frantic second half minutes.

The result ends a run of successive Premier League defeats for Newcastle and ended a up of 12 league games without a win against City. It was also Eddie Howe’s first Premier League win against City at the 19th attempt.

Tino Livramento makes a big impact on NUFC return

And not only did Livramento return to the side after two months out, he managed to get through the full 90 minutes, making several crucial defensive contributions.

After the match, Howe praised the England international as well as fellow full-back Lewis Hall, who also marked his first start since September following injury troubles.

“The team is formed by individuals,” Howe explained. “The individuals create the team and they’ve all got different attributes. So, you saw today Lewis Hall’s technical ability considered again the length of time that he’s been out and he’s one that hadn’t trained with us.

“You got Tino who had stayed with us and had done a lot of hard work. I thought physically he looked unbelievable considering he’s seven weeks out and a really high-level performance against a very dangerous opponent.

Livramento’s post had no caption but was met with quite the response from several people connected with the club.

Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes wrote: “What a player.”

Both Sean Longstaff and Elliot Anderson are boyhood Newcastle fans but have both left the club in recent seasons after progressing through the academy system and into the first team.

Longstaff joined Leeds United in the summer for £15million and has made a positive impact at Elland Road so far. Anderson was reluctantly sold by Newcastle to Nottingham Forest in 2024 for £35million and has since established himself as one of England’s best young midfielders, breaking into the national team heading into a World Cup year.

Responding to Livramento’s return, Longstaff wrote on Instagram: “The boy is back.”

While Anderson commented: “Too good.”

The Geordie duo may have left Newcastle, but the connections remain.
