Finance expert shares what it’s going to ‘cost’ Celtic if they sack Wilfried Nancy

The calls for Wilfried to be removed as the Celtic manager intensified this week after the defeat to Dundee United.

Nancy has been living on borrowed time since day one after Celtic lost to Hearts rather meekly at Parkhead.

The Celtic manager continues to persist with this 3-4-3 formation that is doing nothing except confuse the players and annoy the fans.

At Tannadice, Celtic didn’t have a single shot on target after Daizen Maeda’s goal put the Bhoys 1-0 up so it’s little wonder fan patience is running out.

But after just two weeks in the job, what would it cost Celtic financially to get rid of Nancy and start the search for their third new manager of this season?

Sacking Wilfried Nancy could cost Celtic ‘one year’s money’

Nancy is just two weeks into a two-and-a-half year deal at Celtic and finance expert and former Man City man, Stefan Borson has said that if the Frenchman is set to go, it will cost the Parkead club a pretty penny.

Borson told the Football Insider podcast, “Yeah, but it won’t be zero. I mean, he’s left a job so I think you can look at minimum being probably one year’s money, given that he’s left a job that presumably he’s happy with to come to Celtic.

“This isn’t a contract that’s got a probation clause in it where they can get rid of him with no compensation in the first six months.

“The idea that he would be under pressure after four games, I think, would not have been on the radar when signing him. You don’t bring in a new guy believing there’s any possibility that after four games you might need to do something.

“And so I think if they wanted to get rid of him, you can expect it to cost them a year’s salary.”

67 Hail Hail report that Nancy is on around £2m per year at Celtic so it seems that a healthy seven-figure sum could be on the way for the Frenchman.

That depends on whether or not Celtic beat Aberdeen at Parkhead this afternoon. If they don’t then Nancy could be delivered a tidy sum of cash in time for Santa coming this year.
