‘Sack him now’ – Celtic fans have had enough of Wilfried Nancy

0

Football these days is full of opinions, so let’s talk about a few facts today, shall we? Wilfried Nancy has made a historically bad start as Celtic manager. That’s a fact. He has come in and tried to implement a style on a squad that was never suited for it. That’s a fact. He has shown no signs of wanting to change despite constant losses. That’s a fact. And for all those complaining about the roster, Martin O’Neill won seven out of eight games with these same players. Fact!

It is pretty clear that the Celtic board are not eager to admit that they made a mistake in appointing Nancy. But at some point, common sense needs to prevail, and the right thing needs to be done.

Nancy is not good enough to be Celtic manager. That has become very clear over the last seven games. He has lost five of them. The experiment is over. There is nothing left to see.

If any Celtic fans were holding out hope, trying to will Nancy to be a success in many ways, those hopes have now evaporated. And it is hard to find a supporter who wants to see him remain in the job.

‘Sack him now’ – Celtic fans have had enough of Wilfried Nancy

The fans made their sentiments very clear as they watched the horror show against Motherwell unfold. One wrote: “Sack him now. Experiment over.”

Another said: “Nancy has to go. Cut our losses.”

A third added: “End this madness now-while we still have a bit of a chance of winning the league.”

Some even want more than the manager to head for the exit: “2 shots in 60 minutes, this team put 3 past Feyenoord. Everyone involved in Nancy’s hiring process needs sacked.”

It would be safe to say that Celtic have gotten this horribly wrong. Somehow, they have managed to pull off a worse appointment than Russell Martin a couple of months after his sacking by the Rangers.

Now, it is up to the board to make the right direction. But will they? That is the big question coming out of this game. The next game is the Glasgow Derby. It is at home. Will they take one more chance with the Frenchman, hoping against hope that he can find a way to win, and that result would appease the fans? To be honest, it does not feel like there is much left to see here. Nancy won’t make it at Parkhead. That might as well be considered a ‘fact’.
