Celtic have registered a transfer interest in Hibernian striker Kieron Bowie. The Scotland internationalist, 23, is being monitored by a growing list of clubs after his impressive form for the Easter Road club. It’s understood Hibs have been made aware of interest in Bowie from Celtic, with the Parkhead club keen to be kept informed over any possible transfer deals.
Rangers have asked to remain in the loop on Bowie’s situation with both Glasgow clubs keeping tabs on the forward, who scored for Hibs in the 1-1 draw with Motherwell on Saturday.
Hibernian are thought to be looking at a £6.5m valuation for Bowie should transfer interest, also from down south in the Championship, result in a formal approach for his services.Celtic are in need of reinforcements at striker this month.Kyogo
Furuhashi had been linked with a return to Glasgow, but that move appears to be unlikely.O’Neill said of the possible deal: “I would have said that would probably be unlikely.Everything
is premature.”There is a viewpoint that he wants to prove himself at Birmingham, which is no surprise.”We’re doing plenty of work on the transfer front.
We’re trying to get a few players in. We’re well aware that we have to supplement the squad.”Kelechi Iheanacho is out injured, with Johnny Kenny the only out-and-out striker involved for Celtic in the 4-0 win over Dundee United on Saturday.
Daizen Maeda has also been utilised in a central striking role, but it’d be expected that Celtic would be looking to sign a striker this month.Asked whether there had been any formal approaches for Bowie,
Hibs boss David Gray said: “I think the speculation is going to be there in terms of people approaching the club. One thing that Kieron needs to do, and it’s the same as all the other players, is just keep doing what he’s doing.
“They need to just keep their feet on the ground, keep working hard and keep improving. And the best thing about it is that they all do that.“When you think about all the players who have been mentioned, they will continue to attract attention if they keep playing at a high standard.“We all know that only happens with good players around them, and having good team-mates around you as well. So I think that’s all going in the right direction.
“It’s good that people are saying nice things about the players. It means you’re doing something right and that’s the most important thing.”
