As well as Tino Livramento, another Newcastle United defender has an injury problem.

Newcastle United are waiting to find out the severity of Tino Livramento’s injury.

The 22-year-old was stretchered off during Newcastle United’s loss to Arsenal on Sunday, with the Magpies conceding a 96th minute winner courtesy of Gabriel.

20 minutes before that agonising blow, there was more heartache for Newcastle United. Tino Livramento’s injury looks like a serious one, but it remains unknown how long he will be out of action for.

Whether it is weeks or months, it is a blow. Livramento has started the season very well, featuring in every game.

As Toon fans await news on the £32million defender, journalist Chris Waugh has provided details of another fitness problem within the Newcastle United squad.

Emil Krafth has a ‘minor’ injury

When Livramento was stretchered off against Arsenal, he was replaced by Jamaal Lascelles. That is despite the fact that Emil Krafth was also on the bench.

Eddie Howe’s decision to pick Lascelles may have had something to do with an injury problem that Krafth is carrying, with the Athletic’s Chris Waugh admitting that the Sweden international is not fully fit.

As part of a Q&A for the Athletic, Waugh wrote: “Emil Krafth is believed to be managing a minor injury of his own.”

This comes after the 31-year-old played 61 minutes of Newcastle’s win over Bradford City in the Carabao Cup. That is Krafth’s only appearance so far this season.

When does Emil Krafth’s Newcastle United contract expire?

Newcastle United have multiple players in the final year of their contract, one of which is Krafth.

His previous deal was due to expire at the end of last season, but he agreed a one-year extension in February.

Krafth has a deal with the Magpies until the end of the 2025/26 campaign, meaning any appearance he does make now is an opportunity to prove he deserves another extension.

While he does not regularly play, Krafth is an important member of the Newcastle United squad. He is an incredibly reliable defender, while he offers versatility with his ability to play at right-back and centre-back.

That versatility is something Eddie Howe may have to call upon in the near future, especially if Livramento is set for an extended spell on the sidelines.
