Bundesliga side believe they can sign Newcastle United forward for just £21m in January

Newcastle United may have to brace for a transfer raid from Germany in January if a recent report is to be believed.

In the summer, Newcastle blocked a deadline day exit for Danish striker Will Osula who looked to be heading to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Newcastle had signed Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart and were putting the finishing touches on Yoane Wissa’s move from Brentford.

There may have been a feeling that Osula would be surplus to requirements and that he needed to leave the club to progress his career, but thankfully, someone at the club saw sense and pulled the plug on the move.

Will Osula has had a strong start to the season

Yoane Wissa would go on to immediately pick up an injury, meaning Newcastle would have been very short of options had they sold Osula.

Not only that, but Osula has managed to bag three goals and an assist in all competitions already this season, as Eddie Howe has vowed to make more use of the young Dane.

However, BILD (via Sport Witness) are reporting that Eintracht Frankfurt’s sporting director , Markus Krösche, feels he can scoop up Osula in January for less than €25 million (£21 million).

Will Osula could be sold in January but Newcastle must replace him

We hope this is just a bunch of misplaced confidence, as we’d really love to see Will Osula kick on at Newcastle.

If there are plans to let him leave in January, then I hope Newcastle are planning to bring in another striker. This could feed into the report that Newcastle are still scouting Alexander Sorloth.

We still aren’t buying into the Sorloth claims, given his age, but we’re 50/50 on what will happen with Osula.
