Celtic agree second signing of January, player heading to Glasgow

Celtic have agreed their second signing of January, and the first for Martin O’Neill, as the player is heading to Glasgow.

Coming into the January transfer window, Celtic always knew that they were going to have to be busy if they were going to have any chance of turning around what had been an awful campaign until then. Their plans must have taken another detour after the club were left with no choice but to sack Wilfried Nancy, merely 33 days and eight games after his appointment, following their defeat at home against the Rangers in the first Glasgow Derby of the year.

At the end of the day, it had been clear for a while that Nancy was out of his depth in this job. The decision to sack him should have been made even earlier. But the board were clearly keen to see the appointment work out and be proven right. But ultimately, they were left with little choice but to adit their mistake.

Martin O’Neill has been brought in to take interim charge of the team until the end of the season. It is a solid choice as the Northern Irishman had won seven out of his eight games with this weak squad before Nancy replaced him.

That being said, Celtic should do their best to strengthen this squad for O’Neill this January. So far, the only new addition has been the loan arrival of Julian Araujo.

As reported by the Daily Record, Jocelin Ta Bi has agreed a £2 million switch to Celtic. The Ivory Coast starlet is en route to Glasgow to complete a move to the Scottish champions.

He is a highly rated talent for sure. Now, it remains to be seen if he can deliver the goods in a Celtic jersey.
