According to a recent claim from The Scottish Sun, the Hoops are monitoring the Bournemouth right-back as they assess options to bolster their backline.

The 24-year-old is currently on the fringes of the first team at the Vitality Stadium under head coach Andoni Iraola. A lack of regular minutes this season has fuelled speculation that Bournemouth may be open to sanctioning a loan move until the end of the campaign, particularly if the player is keen to secure consistent game time in a World Cup year.

Araujo’s Journey from MLS to the Premier League

Born in the United States but representing Mexico at international level, Araujo’s development pathway has been unconventional. He spent his formative years across several youth setups, including the Central Coast Condors, Santa Barbara Soccer Club, Lompoc High School, and the renowned Barça Residency Academy before being snapped up by LA Galaxy.

Araujo went on to make 109 senior appearances for the MLS side, quickly establishing himself as one of the league’s most promising fullbacks. His performances earned him a high-profile move to Barcelona in February 2023 for a reported fee of around €5 million.

While first-team opportunities were limited at the Camp Nou, the Catalans sent him on loan to UD Las Palmas for the 2023–24 season. That spell proved to be a crucial step in his development, with Araujo delivering a series of strong performances in La Liga that caught the attention of clubs across Europe.

Those displays eventually led to a €10 million transfer to Bournemouth in the summer of 2024, as the Premier League club sought to add depth and energy down the right flank.

Why Bournemouth May Allow a January Exit

Araujo’s time in England, however, has yet to fully take off. A lengthy injury setback restricted him to just 13 appearances last season, and the situation has become more challenging this term.

He currently finds himself behind club captain Adam Smith and summer signing Alex Jimenez in the pecking order. With just one League Cup appearance to his name so far this season, regular minutes have been hard to come by.

From Bournemouth’s perspective, allowing a temporary exit could benefit all parties. Araujo needs match sharpness and exposure, while the Cherries would retain a valuable asset whose market value could increase with consistent performances elsewhere.

Nancy is well aware of the defender’s athleticism, aggression, and attacking output down the flank — qualities that would suit Celtic’s system and the demands of domestic and European football.

A loan move to Glasgow would offer Araujo the chance to play regular football, compete for silverware, and re-establish momentum at a crucial stage of his career.
