It looks like Celtic could sign another defender ahead of a striker in the January transfer window, with reports suggesting a centre‑back deal is advancing.
According to the Sky Sports man, Celtic are preparing a loan offer for Eintracht Frankfurt centre‑back Aurèle Amenda.

The Bundesliga side are said to be aware of Celtic’s interest and are waiting to receive a formal bid. Amenda, 22, is understood to be willing to move, but a deal has not yet been approved by Frankfurt.

If the transfer goes through, it could have a domino effect elsewhere in the squad, particularly for Stephen Welsh.
Celtic have recalled Welsh from his loan at Motherwell, where he has been one of the standout defenders in the Scottish Premiership this season. However, CeltsAreHere understands that Welsh is unlikely to join Aberdeen this window, despite earlier links.
Welsh’s contract included a clause requiring Celtic to recall him by a set date if they wanted to bring him back this month, and the club acted within that timeframe. Martin O’Neill has indicated that, if a suitable move can be arranged, Welsh could very well return to Lanarkshire.
With Carter-Vickers’ season over, it’s no wonder that Celtic are keen to strengthen the centre of defence. Auston Trusty and Liam Scales have paired up well, but behind them there isn’t much depth.
