Celtic winger Luis Palma has reached the halfway stage of his loan spell in Poland and admits the move away from Glasgow has given him exactly what he was looking for.
The Honduran joined Lech Poznań earlier this season after finding chances limited at Celtic FC. While there were flashes of quality in green and white, Palma never managed to secure a consistent starting role. The decision to move was made with one clear aim, regular football and a chance to rebuild confidence.
So far, the switch has paid off. Palma has recorded six goals and seven assists from 25 appearances, establishing himself as an important attacking outlet as Lech continue to compete on several domestic fronts.
Speaking openly about his situation, Palma made it clear he has settled quickly into life in Poland.
“I feel happy in Poznan. My goal is to win the Polish championship. I’m looking forward to the second half of the season,” he told the Herald.
“When my agent first called me and told me about the possibility of joining Lech, I decided pretty quickly. I spoke with my family for two or three days and then agreed.”
That early excitement has not faded. Palma spoke warmly about the city, the club, and the atmosphere within the squad.
“I was very excited when I arrived and hoped to have a successful season with the team. So far, we’re on the right track.

“I’m doing my best to contribute, and I’m happy with my goals and assists. I’m very satisfied and happy in Poznan.”
A big part of that comfort has come from his relationship with head coach Niels Frederiksen and the wider coaching staff.
“From the very beginning, I’ve had a great working relationship with the manager and the entire coaching staff. I can always turn to someone for help. I’m very grateful for the trust the coach has placed in me.”
Palma also highlighted the ambition inside the dressing room.
“We’re fighting on three fronts for trophies, and that’s especially important.”
According to Transfermarkt, Lech Poznań hold an option to buy at the end of the loan, although no fee has been made public. That detail could become more important as the season progresses and Palma’s form continues.
Palma left on loan under Brendan Rodgers, but the picture has changed since then. Wilfried Nancy is now in charge at Parkhead, and how he views Palma’s skill set will play a major role in any decision made this summer.
For now, Palma’s focus remains firmly on finishing the campaign strongly.
“We’ll have to wait and see what the future holds. I hope this season will be a good one for us. I want to finish it in the best possible way. What happens after that depends only on God.
“I’m in Poznan with my wife, and we love it here. I’m really glad we’re getting to know the city better.”
That sense of contentment, combined with steady output on the pitch, leaves Celtic with a clear decision to make. They can either bring back a player who is finding his rhythm or move him on while his value continues to rise.
