Eddie Howe has just handed one Newcastle United player a new role.
Newcastle United enjoyed their first win of the new Premier League season on Saturday. United claimed a 1-0 victory over Wolves at St James’ Park thanks to a first-half header from summer signing Nick Woltemade.
The former Stuttgart star was making his debut for the Magpies following his £65million transfer last month. Eddie Howe and Co. will now prepare to face Barcelona in the Champions League in midweek in their next match.
The Newcastle boss will need the full use of the squad at his disposal, with the club even handing out a new role to one player earlier this week. Newcastle named the maximum number of 25 players in their official squad that was submitted to the Premier League.
One player who was named in the squad was William Osula, who has now been given a new role at the club. Osula was previously listed as an under-21 player last season but no longer fulfils the criteria to be included in the same list this term.
This is because Osula was born before the January 1, 2004, cut-off, meaning the striker has now been included in the official squad submitted to the Premier League. Howe has given minutes to Osula in all four Premier League matches so far this season, including a start in the goalless draw with Leeds United before the international break. Osula scored his first goal of the campaign in the 3-2 defeat to Liverpool last month.
