Fabrizio Romano confirms Celtic ‘verbal agreement’ as deal edges closer

Fabrizio Romano has dropped some transfer news involving Celtic that not many would have seen coming.

This transfer window has been full of twists and turns if you are a Celtic fan, even though the club have not even made a single permanent signing yet. The only addition has been that of Julian Araujo, who has been brought in on loan for the rest of the season after making just one appearance for Bournemouth in the first half of the campaign.

There are clearly plenty more signings needed. And for a while, it had looked like we knew who the second addition of this window as going to be.

That was until a move for Jocelin Ta Bi fell apart, even though everything had been agreed. There have been suggestions that it was down to an injury that requires surgery. But the latest news surrounding the winger does throw that suggestion into doubt.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Sunderland have agreed a deal to sign Ta Bi. It has been given the Italian journalist’s famous ‘here we go’ treatment. He also claims that Celtic had verbal agreement in place but the English club swooped in.

So, if the injury news is true, then it looks like Sunderland are ready to allow Ta Bi the time that he needs to recover, but want to get the signing done as soon as possible. That would show a terrific amount of belief in the player.

On the other hand, it is also possible that the rumour about the injury might have been off the mark, or at least blown out of proportion. Whatever maybe the case, it seems pretty clear that Celtic are not going to be signing Ta Bi. He is headed to the Premier League.

On the other hand, Celtic have been linked with another loan move. This time it is Nacho Laquintana of RB Bragantino. The Uruguayan international winger is believed to be keen on a switch to Glasgow.
