Here are some of the latest Rangers and Celtic transfer rumours
It’s Christmas time but Rangers and Celtic will be hoping for bargains when the January sales open up.
The Light Blues host Motherwell this weekend and the Hoops are at Livingston, but recruitment work may already be ongoing in the background. Stars like Josh Windass have been linked to Danny Rohl’s side while former West Ham United striker Evan Ferguson is a name again rumoured to be on the Celtic radar, amid a difficult loan from Brighton to Roma.
Focus will remain on the pitch for now but there will be an eye to helping their stars with recruits next month. Here are some of the latest rumours when it comes to both Rangers and Celtic.
Evan Ferguson transfer latest
It was reported recently by 67 Hail Hail that Celtic are ‘watching Evan Ferguson’s situation ahead of the January transfer window.’ That situation now seems to be developing as Turkish side Fenerbahce reportedly enter the race for the former West Ham United man, but Roma need a replacement first.

Reporting from Corriere Giallrosso reads: “Roma’s transfer market isn’t just a search for reinforcements, but also a careful purging of the squad. Gasperini has drawn a clear line, and anyone who doesn’t fit into the plan is destined to leave. The most emblematic case is that of Evan Ferguson.
“His future in Rome appears sealed. The loan is unlikely to continue. Brighton is considering an early return, while Fenerbahce is interested in Turkey. Roma, however, is in no rush: they will first find a replacement, then give the green light to the transfer.”
Graeme Souness on Rangers transfer requirements
Rangers icon Souness reckons four players are needed for Rangers to get back on track. The goalkeeper position is secure but a centre-back, left-back, midfielder and forward are players the former player-manager feels must be on the agenda.
He is quoted in the Daily Record: “The goalkeeper Jack Butland is good so maybe a centre half, a left back, a centre midfield player, and a striker. But that’s a lot of money. I know Hearts are top of the league at the moment and Celtic are having difficulties. They’ve just changed their manager. Why? They should have kept Martin O’Neill. Martin’s been around the houses as much and as many times as any manager out there, and he’s a top guy, top manager.
“It’s a strange one and a very brave move taking on Wilfried Nancy. So, watch that one. But that takes the pressure off Rangers a wee bit because for a few years now Celtic have been sailing off into the sunset with all the pressure being on Rangers and them getting none. They’ll be getting an equal amount of pressure right now. But Rangers should just concentrate on their own lot and there’s things happening there which hopefully will make it a lot better going forward. Do they have the money to go and buy five players this winter window? Who’s going to make that call? They’re rudderless at the moment, but there are changes afoot, I believe.”
