Well, it would be safe to say that Celtic have had an eventful few months when it comes to their managerial situation. Brendan Rodgers had been facing a lot of criticism before he decided to resign from his post. Martin O’Neill came in as interim manager and did an amazing job, winning seven out of his eight games with a squad that was clearly not up to the mark.

But then, he was shown the exit door and replaced by Wilfried Nancy weeks before the Scottish League Cup final, which O’Neill had helped the team reach by defeating the Rangers in the semis. As it turns out, that was a mistake on the part of the club and a big one at that.
Nancy has lost all three games he has taken charge of Celtic in. It has been a nightmare, to say the least. And there are already calls for him to be sacked, although it is hard to imagine that the board will make the decision so quickly and admit that they got it completely wrong.
On the other hand, Rodgers has already landed his next job. He is set to make a move away from Europe and move to the Saudi Pro League, as many had predicted already.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Rodgers has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract as the new Al Qadsiah manager. The agreement is sealed and it is a ‘here we go’.
We can only wish Rodgers the best in his next step. He won a lot for Celtic and was not given the best tools to succeed the second time around.
Despite that, Rodgers still did win the club a couple of league titles and a couple of cups. And he also took them past the Champions League first round after more than a decade. Yes, it was not perfect, but he did a decent enough job with what was available.
At the end of the day, he decided to resign rather than wait to be sacked, which is commendable. And judging from Dermot Desmond’s statement, it is pretty clear that the situation behind the scenes had become unsustainable.
On the other hand, it is very clear that there are still a lot of issues at the club even after Rodgers’ exit. When will those be resolved? And who will leave next to help in that? Will anybody else depart at all?
