Jonathan Kuminga’s Agent Reveals He’ll Sign Warriors Deal Under One Condition.

The Golden State Warriors have reportedly offered restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga a three-year, $75.2 million deal with a team option for the third year.

The new offer from Golden State isn’t much different from the reported two-year, $45 million contract the team originally offered, aside from more guaranteed money. Both deals are team-friendly, and the Warriors have taken a firm stance in keeping it that way.

ESPN’s Anthony Slater shared a message from Kuminga’s camp on what the Warriors need to change about their current offer in order for the 22-year-old to sign it. “I actually talked to Aaron Turner, Jonathan Kuminga’s agent, this morning and the message they’re adopting this week is turn the T.O. to a P.O. and it’s done,” Slater said.

“That message is generally saying if that three-year deal is suddenly a player option, not only will Jonathan Kuminga sign it their saying, but he will be completely bought in on the mission that they’re asking of him.

Kuminga’s reluctance to accept a team-friendly deal insinuates he may end up returning to Golden State on a one-year, $7.9 million qualifying offer.

Kuminga would then be able to test the free agent market following the 2025-26 season. For the Warriors, Kuminga taking the qualifying offer would not be favorable for a number of reasons.

The 22-year-old is the team’s best trade asset, but it would be hard to flip Kuminga at February’s deadline.

Additionally, veterans on the Warriors aren’t certain about Kuminga’s commitment to the team if he returns on the qualifying offer.

The Warriors have not established a set role for Kuminga and that has certainly played a role in the current contract saga. Movement was reportedly expected sometime this week; however, it appears both sides are not willing to concede just yet.

The two parties have reportedly met in person earlier in free agency to negotiate, but both the Warriors and Kuminga have remained steadfast in their stance on the situation.

Nevertheless, the deadline for Kuminga to accept the qualifying offer is Oct. 1 so a decision will have to made soon.
