Kyogo Furuhashi Set To Make Shock Return to Celtic

Kyogo Furuhashi could be set for a return to Celtic on a loan until the end of the season, one year on since departing the club. The striker has struggled at Birmingham City, and new reports claim the Hoops are exploring ways to make the move happen.

Martin O’Neill has highlighted the need for signings this window, particularly in attack, with the club spending the last 24 hours trying to get this deal finalised, according to the Scottish Sun.

The 30-year-old was a fan favourite during his time at Celtic Park, scoring 85 goals in 165 games. He left for Stade Rennes last January before making the move to the English Championship, but has found the net just once in 25 appearances for Birmingham.

He has his sights set on a place in the Japan squad for the World Cup, with a move back to the Hoops offering a possibility of a seat on the plane.

If he finds the form he enjoyed at the Hoops, then it seems a no-brainer.

Though his goal drought since his departure is something to note. The club are in desperate need of firepower and he would undoubtedly enjoy a warm reception should he return.

While this would be an uninspired move in terms of imagination and scouting, Celtic need to stabilise and perhaps having someone who can come in and hit the ground running is exactly what Celtic need.
