Newcastle paid £252m this summer to bring in stars like Wissa, Elanga, Thiaw, Ramsey and Woltemade – now they will be unleashed on the Premier League
Newcastle United new boy Yoane Wissa admits he can’t wait to hook up with new team-mates such as Nick Woltemade, Jacob Ramsey, Anthony Elanga and Malick Thiaw.

Walking out for the first time wearing the black and white shirt and donning the no.9 is a moment Wissa can’t wait to enjoy. It will also be the official moment that life after Alexander Isak comes to an end for fans at St James’ Park.

Wissa, speaking to NUFC TV, said: “I’m looking forward to it. I watched Newcastle all last season and the first three games of this season, it’s a quality squad.

Wissa has also revealed he has fond memories of watching Newcastle as a kid from seeing Alan Shearer in the latter years of his career at St James’ to the more modern pairing of Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse.

He said: “I remember Alan Shearer growing up, Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse, the duo they created.

“I am so proud now. I spoke to Chancel Mbemba, who played here too. He wanted the deal to happen because he enjoyed it here.

“The black and white shirt is something I have wanted from day one.”

Wissa has also lifted the lid on how he done his homework by watching Newcastle’s 2023 documentary on Prime Video.
