After losing Alexander Isak to Liverpool in a transfer saga that dominated a difficult summer, it’s vital Newcastle United do everything in their power to keep our current stars happy.

On that note, one man who is set for contract talks over a new improved deal is Tino Livramento, not just to reward his impressive rise since signing from Southampton, but the inevitable interest coming his way.

Man City were linked with a move over the summer and recent rumblings suggest they could be back in for the England international in 2026, which would be no surprise given his performance against Jeremy Doku on Saturday.

After that 2-1 win over Pep Guardiola’s side, Tino was asked about his future, those City rumours and a potential new deal, insisting all of his focus is on Newcastle United and revealing how much he loves playing at St James’ Park.

Speaking to NewcastleWorld about those transfer links, he said: “That’s nothing that I’m in control of. I leave that to my dad, to my agent.

“For me, I’ve been out for seven weeks. I’ve been working really hard to come back and obviously help the team.

“I’m very happy with how I’ve played (against Man City). That’s my focus, staying where I’m at now. That’s always been my focus. Helping the team as much as I can.”

Asked if he’s happy on Tyneside, Tino’s response was short but emphatic, saying: “Of course (I’m happy), have you not seen it out there?!”

Discussing his return to action after missing almost two months through a knee injury, Tino discussed his return to action and a win that could be a “turning point” in our season after some hard work over the recent international break:

“I’m very happy, very happy to be back playing. It’s a great result for the team, for the city. A lot of fans have been waiting for our season to kick start and I feel like this could be the turning point. We’ve worked really hard.

“We had three or four really tough sessions, just working on things that the manager thought that we weren’t doing in games. It definitely helped us, the international break, to fix a few things.”

Next up for Tino, hopefully some sit down talks between Ross Wilson and his agent, with the full-back fully deserving of a new deal as one of the top young Premier League talents in this country.
