Newcastle’s bonus payments for Woltemade transfer detailed – Champions League glory will cost Magpies.

The clauses included in Nick Woltemade’s move to Newcastle United from VfB Stuttgart have been revealed.

Sport BILD provide the information today, detailing the various clauses that Stuttgart can earn from Newcastle in the near future.

They explain that the base fee Newcastle have paid for the striker is €85m but that will be paid in three instalments over three years. The first of those is by far the highest.

Stuttgart can also collect bonus payments on top of this, and these are said to be ‘quite substantial’.

They will receive €2m if Woltemade wins the Premier League with Newcastle. They will also receive the same if Newcastle win the Champions League.

If the Magpies simply reach the semi-finals of the competition, then they’ll have to pay €1m. There is a prerequisite for that, though.

Woltemade has to play in at least 60% of the available minutes.

If the German striker becomes the Premier League’s top goal scorer, meanwhile, Newcastle will have to pay another €500,000 to Stuttgart.

They’re not the only ones being paid either as Woltemade is now earning up to €8m a year at St James Park. He was convinced of the project by Eddie Howe, who told him that his height and technical ability would suit their system well.

After a goal on his debut that appears to be the case and now the focus is on the Champions League, which can see Stuttgart bag extra millions if Woltemade and Newcastle do well.
