Newcastle’s six matches in 18 days promise a tough test

So the Newcastle United upcoming match schedule (see below) has just become a little clearer.

In amongst the games now confirmed, a period of 18 days containing six Newcastle United fixtures looks pretty intense.

On Thursday 18 September it is Barcelona at home in the Champions league, then 17 days later it is Sunday 5 October it is Forest at home in the Premier League.

In between those two matches, there are four more Newcastle United fixtures.

With Newcastle v Barcelona on Thursday 18 September, that means Bournemouth v Newcastle is certain to be moved from Saturday 20 September, which means it will be played almost certainly on Sunday 21 September (with all Sunday Premier League matches this season to be shown live for UK TV viewers, this is set to be shown on Sky Sports).

The following midweek sees Newcastle v Bradford in the Carabao Cup and I guess they have been waiting for the European fixtures to have dates decided before announcing the domestic cup ones.

With Newcastle now looking set to be playing at Bournemouth on Sunday 21 September, it will surely mean the Carabao Cup match is going to be on Wednesday 24 September.

Newcastle home to Arsenal on Sunday 28 September and NUFC away to Union SG on Wednesday 1 October, are the other matches in that six games in 18 days sequence.
