Here is the latest January transfer news and rumours across the Scottish Premiership including updates from Rangers, Celtic and Hearts.
Rangers deal close
Rangers are working to secure further January additions following the £4.3million signing of Tochi Chukwuani from Austrian champions Sturm Graz. The 22-year-old midfielder, who is a Denmark Under-21 international, became head coach Danny Rohl’s first signing of the window at the weekend.
A £3million deal has also has been agreed with Belgian Pro League club Westerlo for left-back Tuur Rommens and is expected to be announced in the next 24 hours. Ex-Rangers coach Issam Charai – now manager of Westerlo – said the player will be the “perfect fit” for his former club, adding: ” A player who is physically strong, gets his shirt wet, doesn’t shy away from duels, and likes to go off the line. The fans will love him.”

Rangers are also said to be holding talks with Andreas Skov Olsen over a potential loan move from Wolfsburg. The Denmark international only joined the German side in the summer in a £12m switch from Club Brugge but has found opportunities limited.
Another winger has also been linked with the Ibrox club. Hungarian international Damir Redzic has reportedly caught the Ibrox club’s attention with impressive displays for Slovakian side Dunajska Strada. The 22-year-old has managed seven goals and one assist in 14 appearances for his club this season.
Hearts receive enquiry
Kilmarnock have enquired about Hearts winger Alan Forrest as they look to improve their squad for the second half of the season. The Rugby Park club appointed a new management team in Neil McCann and Billy Dodds last week and are in the process of strengthening before the window closes.
They are eager to sign at least one wide player and made an enquiry for Forrest, although there is no deal in place with talks currently at an early stage. The 29-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and is expected to leave Tynecastle Park for pastures new. Hearts are happy to keep him until then as a back-up option so Kilmarnock would need to put forward a convincing offer in order to secure Forrest’s services.
McCann is also keen on the Rangers winger Findlay Curtis and talks over a loan deal are progressing. McCann sees Forrest as a possible option for the rest of the season as second-bottom Kilmarnock look to move clear of the Premiership relegation zone. Forrest joined Hearts in summer 2022 from Livingston and was a first-team regular prior to this season. He has managed 14 appearances this term but only one of those have come in the last six matches.

Celtic open talks
Celtic are focusing on other targets following the collapse of a move for Maccabi Netanya winger Jocelin Ta Bi. The Ivory Coast youngster, 20, was on the cusp of becoming Martin O’Neill’s first January signing but the £2million deal was called off after an injury was identified during the player’s medical. Reports indicate Ta Bi could now join EPL side Sunderland instead.
Celtic, meanwhile, have opened talks with Red Bull Bragantino over a possible loan deal for winger Ignacio Laquintana. The 26-year-old Uruguay international contributed five goals and five assists across 34 appearances for the Brazilian club across the 2025 season, which finished in December.
The Hoops have also been linked with Lorient striker Mohamed Bamba. Reports claim that the Parkhead outfit have made an approach for the Ivory Coast Under-23 international. Bamba has struggled for regular minutes with the French Ligue 1 side this season and has a return of 14 goals and 12 assists in 50 appearances for the club since joining from Wolfsburg in 2024.
Celtic have added to their defensive options by recalling Stephen Welsh from his loan spell at Motherwell. The 25-year-old centre-back made 17 appearances in total for the Steelmen and helped them to fourth place in the Premiership.
“It’s needs must,” explained O’Neill, who admitted that Welsh could return to Motherwell for the rest of the season if Celtic sign a defender before the window shuts.
