Rangers are making efforts to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window following a wave of activity.

Rangers have already sealed two new signings this month, with Tochi Chukwuani and Tuur Rommens arriving from Sturm Graz and KVC Westerlo.

Sunderland duo Dan Neil and Romaine Mundle have emerged as potential options at Ibrox as Danny Rohl’s looks to make further additions.

Meanwhile, Rangers have agreed a loan move for Andreas Skov Olsen from Wolfsburg, with a £9million option-to-buy clause included in the deal.

Rangers title prediction shared after new arrivals

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Rangers will be confident they can chase down Hearts in the race for the Scottish Premiership title.

Rohl has been praised for his work at Ibrox in recent weeks following his side’s strong run of form.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Rangers’ transfer activity, Borson said: “Well, they’re in good form, aren’t they? I mean, that’s five out of five. That’s good momentum. I’m sure they would think that they can make up the six points. Hearts have pulled out a couple of great results, but you would think that they can get there.

“If they can, then obviously it’s transformational. Finishing second I think gives you three play-off rounds to get in the Champions League league phase, which is going to be hard, right?

“I mean, it really makes a mess of the season, especially in a World Cup season. I don’t know how many players they’ve got there, but let’s say they’ve got four or five players at the World Cup.

“The World Cup finishes towards the end of July. I mean, there’s going to be an overlap between the qualifying rounds of the Champions League and the World Cup, I would think. I don’t know how that works, but it’s going be very hard to qualify with three rounds.”

How Rangers could get major Champions League boost

Borson insisted it makes sense for Rangers to be signing players in January as they look to win the title and improve their chances of qualifying for the Champions League.

“If you can finish obviously first, if you win the league, I think it’s one qualifying game,” said Borson.

“There’s a very valuable prize on the other side of that match. I mean, it definitely makes sense to be signing players.

“It particularly makes sense to try and get players on short-term contracts, but obviously that’s what everybody wants to do.”
