REVEALED: Newcastle set for mad week as date emerges for Fulham quarter-final

Newcastle United advanced into the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup last night, seeing off Spurs 2-0 thanks to goals from Fabian Schar and Nick Woltemade at St James’ Park.

The draw followed live on Sky Sports, and it was just what we hoped for, handing us another home tie against a Fulham side that we beat 2-1 last week.

The game is due to be played on the week beginning 15th December. No ‘official date’ has been set, but the tie will almost certainly take place on Wednesday, 17th December.

This date looks nailed on as Newcastle play at Sunderland on Sunday, 14th December (live on Sky Sports at 2pm) and in the 12.30pm kick-off (live on TNT Sports) at home to Chelsea on Saturday, 20th December.

With this in mind, the Fulham game will not take place on Tuesday 16th – just 48 hours after the Wear-Tyne derby – and couldn’t be Thursday 18th, which would be less than 48 hours before our early kick-off with Chelsea on Saturday, 20th.

So, Wednesday the 17th December will be the date, with a kick-off time of 7.45pm or 8pm set to be decided in due course, depending on TV scheduling.

This creates a manic yet exciting week for Newcastle United, who will play a local derby, cup quarter-final and vital clash with top four rivals Chelsea in the space of seven days in the build up to Christmas!
