Spanish club closing in on signing Newcastle United player – January arrival in works.

The winger, who turned 19 earlier this month, arrived at St James’ Park as a free agent in the summer. His Málaga contract had run down, and there was some announced the youngster would be leaving for free. There was also some concern that it may not be the best career move.
Newcastle United were expected to loan Cordero to a Spanish club so he could continue his development. Instead, for reasons which have never really been clear, they sent him to KVC Westerlo in Belgium for the season
That move has gone appallingly, and Cordero has had hardly any minutes. The loan being cancelled by Newcastle United in January looks certain, and now a destination is becoming clearer.
Earlier this week, the Spanish claims didn’t name any club. Now Cadena Ser report it’s Deportivo La Coruña who are closing in on the signing.
They want Cordero to arrive in January on loan, and help with their fight for promotion to La Liga. Deportivo are currently top of La Liga 2 on goal difference, but there’s only one point separating the top four. A battle lies ahead.
