Journalist Pete O’Rourke reports in his recent editorial that Newcastle United could be very active in the January market, looking to strengthen the squad of Eddie Howe to face the second half of the season. The most concrete interest comes from Crystal Palace, who would be preparing an offer for January. Since the English club views the deal positively, this will allow them to free up salary space and possibly reinforce other positions.
Additionally, the 26-year-old has a contract until 2027, which makes this an interesting opportunity for Newcastle to get a good economic return from his transfer. However, it is unlikely that the operation with Crystal Palace will end before the Magpies find a suitable replacement. The intention of Howe’s team is not to weaken the squad without having a viable alternative.
