Celtic linked with potential €10m transfer move for former Inter Milan midfielder, reports suggest

Posted on January 8, 2026 by jewsport

Celtic have several areas of the squad that require attention ahead of the summer window, but activity so far has been fairly low-key. Their only notable piece of business has been the loan signing of Julian Araujo from Bournemouth until the end of the season. There have also been suggestions that Kyogo Furuhashi could be on his way back to Parkhead on a temporary basis, following a difficult spell at Birmingham City where he has managed just one goal since his summer move.

The club’s cautious approach in the transfer market is not entirely surprising. Wilfried Nancy was dismissed earlier this week, and while Martin O’Neill’s return has been warmly received, he is currently only in charge on an interim basis. With a permanent managerial appointment expected later in the year, Celtic may be hesitant to commit serious money on new signings who might not fit the long-term vision of the next head coach.

Despite that uncertainty, the Hoops continue to be linked with several players who would require a sizeable investment. One name now emerging is Silas Andersen.

The midfielder, who came through the youth system at Inter Milan, is currently plying his trade with Swedish side Häcken. According to reports from Fotboll Direkt, relayed by 67 Hail Hail, the Allsvenskan club would be prepared to listen to offers in the region of £8.6 million.

Andersen never managed to break into Inter’s first team but has gradually rebuilt his career away from Italy. After spending time in the Netherlands with FC Utrecht, mainly at youth level, he eventually found a platform to shine in Sweden. His performances for Häcken have been eye-catching, earning him a reputation as one of the standout young midfielders in the league.

Those displays have reportedly put him on Celtic’s radar, though it remains unclear whether the Scottish champions would be willing to meet Häcken’s valuation. Spending close to £9 million on a 21-year-old with no experience at Europe’s elite level would represent a major gamble, particularly at a time when the club’s managerial situation is unresolved.

For now, any potential move appears to be one to watch rather than an imminent deal
