Celtic Player’s Agent Fires Back in Angry Rant After Star Dropped Over Controversial Comments

Posted on March 18, 2026

A Celtic player’s agent has launched a furious online response after his client was reportedly told he would no longer be considered for selection, following comments about his focus on club football.

On-loan striker Tomáš Čvančara has been at the centre of controversy after being left out of the Czech Republic squad by head coach Miroslav Koubek.

The Borussia Mönchengladbach forward was omitted from the upcoming clash against the Republic of Ireland, with the decision linked to remarks suggesting international duty is not currently his top priority.

Čvančara had previously indicated that he wants to focus on building his club career, especially after making a recent move to Celtic. However, those comments appear to have played a role in his omission from the national team.

The situation quickly escalated when his agent, David Nehoda, publicly responded on social media platform X. Nehoda strongly criticised the manager’s reasoning, claiming it was misleading and taken out of context from an earlier interview.

“No one from the national team’s management is in contact with Tomas, nor has anyone been. It strikes me as very strange to draw information about a player and his current situation at the club solely from the media.”

Nehoda also questioned the expectations placed on his client, pointing out that it would make little sense for a player who has only just arrived at Celtic to prioritise international football over settling into his new club.

“Was Tomas supposed to tell the fans that, after just three games for Celtic, the national team is his priority?”

Despite the off-field drama, Čvančara has made an immediate impact since arriving in January. The striker has already scored twice in home victories against Falkirk and Motherwell, showing early promise in a Celtic shirt.

He also delivered in a crucial moment, calmly converting the decisive penalty at Ibrox to send Celtic into the Scottish Cup semi-final while knocking out Rangers.

While the situation with the national team continues to spark debate, Celtic supporters will be encouraged by the striker’s strong start and growing influence on the pitch.
