DISGUSTING AND UNACCEPTABLE!” – Stephen Robinson Slams Rangers Fans After 4-1 Ibrox Clash

Posted on March 22, 2026

The electric atmosphere at Ibrox Stadium took a dark turn on Saturday, as Aberdeen manager Stephen Robinson launched a furious post-match rant following his side’s 4-1 defeat to Rangers.

While Rangers delivered a commanding performance to strengthen their Scottish Premiership push, the result was overshadowed by controversy in the stands. Robinson did not hold back, branding sections of the home support’s chants as “disgusting,” “vile,” and “a total disgrace,” insisting such behaviour has no place in modern football.

Rangers were dominant for much of the match, with the Ibrox crowd in full voice as the hosts surged to victory. However, what should have been a routine win quickly became secondary to the fallout surrounding the atmosphere inside the stadium.

Speaking after the game, Robinson expressed his anger in no uncertain terms. He said he was “absolutely furious” with what he heard, accusing some supporters of crossing the line with chants that mocked tragedy and disrespected individuals.

According to the Aberdeen boss, the issue went far beyond rivalry. He stressed that his players were forced to endure offensive abuse on top of a difficult match, adding that both the club and football authorities must take the matter seriously. Robinson made it clear he would not tolerate such behaviour, insisting football “should be better than this.”

Reports and circulating footage suggest the chants included controversial and historically sensitive themes that have long plagued segments of Scottish football. For visiting teams, venues like Ibrox are known for their intensity, but Robinson believes that intensity crossed into unacceptable territory.

The Aberdeen manager, known for his outspoken approach, has previously addressed fan behaviour within his own club. This time, however, his criticism was directed squarely at the opposition, calling for accountability and action.

A Wider Issue in Scottish Football

This incident is unlikely to be viewed in isolation. Rangers have faced scrutiny over supporter conduct in the past, with governing bodies such as the Scottish Football Association and Police Scotland issuing warnings and monitoring situations involving offensive chanting.

Despite repeated interventions, similar issues continue to surface, raising broader questions about how effectively the problem is being addressed across the game.

Robinson’s comments highlight a growing frustration among managers and players, many of whom feel such incidents are too often tolerated or quietly ignored.

What Happens Next?

Rangers are expected to respond, with standard condemnations likely if the allegations are substantiated. The Scottish Football Association may review any available evidence, while further action could depend on the outcome of investigations.

For Robinson, the message was simple and direct: passion and rivalry are essential to football, but there is a clear line that should not be crossed.

His outburst may have come in the aftermath of defeat, but it has reignited an ongoing debate about fan behaviour and the responsibility of clubs, authorities, and supporters alike.

The result at Ibrox will be remembered in the standings, but the conversation it has sparked could have longer-lasting implications for Scottish football.
