Everton Launch Shock Raid For Celtic Star As Rangers Slap £8M Price Tag On Midfield Gem

Posted on July 9, 2026

The summer transfer window continues to rumble on, and we are now less than a month away from the start of the new season.

Celtic’s pre-season is already underway after they drew with Shelbourne in Ireland on Tuesday evening.

The Bhoys are next in action in Portugal next week, and they could be joined by their first new signing in Camilo Duran. Elsewhere, Premiership sides have been more effective with their business, and we are seeing plenty of deals done across the top flight.

With that in mind, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news surrounding Celtic and their rivals.

Maeda linked with Premier League switch
Daizen Maeda is expected to leave Celtic this summer, now in the final year of his contract.

According to Football Insider, Fulham and Everton are now in the race to land Maeda, while Nottingham Forest are also interested.

Maeda is likely to be allowed to leave this summer, given his contract situation and the fact he seems to want a new challenge. But Celtic’s asking price is going to need to be met, and that price is going to be at least £15million, if not a little more.

Maeda is going to be a tough player to replace, but Celtic cannot afford to take the risk in potentially losing him for free next summer.

Rangers willing to sell Barron
Rangers are expected to make Connor Barron available this summer, as long as their asking price is met. According to Football Insider, the Gers are asking for at least £8million to sell the Scotland international.

Bologna are said to be interested in Barron, with Serie A clubs having shown particular interest in Premiership stars over the last couple of years. The report adds that Rangers are reluctant to lose the midfielder, but they do accept that an offer of between £8million and £10million will likely be too much to turn down.

Guinness-Walker to join Dons
Aberdeen are continuing their busy summer with the expected signing of Northampton Town star Nesta Guinness-Walker. According to the Press and Journal, the 26-year-old will link up with the Dons after finishing his contract with Northampton.

Guinness-Walker came through the youth ranks at Chelsea and Tottenham, and he worked his way back into the professional game after not making it with those clubs. He became a free agent after making 72 appearances for Northampton, and he will now test his ability in Scotland with Aberdeen, expected to join ahead of their pre-season friendly on Saturday.
