Celtic announce January striker transfer out of nowhere

Posted on January 27, 2026

Celtic have announced the striker’s move out of nowhere, although it should not arrive as a surprise.

It would be an understatement to say that Celtic have left themselves with a bit too much work to do in the final days of the winter transfer window. Then again, if you have followed the club for any length of time, the situation will not come as a surprise. On the contrary, this feels like familiar territory. The Scottish champions have a habit of not getting business done on time, if at all.

Signing a couple of strikers this winter was seen as a bit of a priority for Celtic. They have brought in Tomas Cvancara on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach for the rest of the season, with an option to buy included in the deal.

Some rumours have emerged regarding a potential move for Kasper Hogh of Bodo/Glimt as well. But at the same time, one striker has left the club, on loan.

As announced by the club’s official account, Shin Yamada has joined Preußen Münster. He will remain there on loan until the end of the season.

To be honest, with all due respect to them, most fans would not have even heard of the German second division club before today. Let’s just hope that Yamada ends up having a good loan spell there.

When Yamada was signed in the summer, he was a striker out of form. As a result, questions had always been raised about the move and the fears have come true. He has failed to make an impact at Celtic Park. In fact, he has not even gotten enough chances to show what he is capable of.

Anyways, it remains to be seen how things will play out for Celtic over the coming days. One thing is for sure though, it would be ideal if they are able to bring in a striker as soon as possible.
