The Sky Is the Limit for Benjamin Nygren: Celtic’s 19-Goal Sensation – But Should the Hoops Cash In This Summer?

Posted on March 11, 2026

Benjamin Nygren can reach the top level of football, but the question now is whether Celtic should cash in early or hold out to get the most from the player.

Since joining Celtic in the summer, Nygren, alongside other signings like Julian Araujo, has made a brilliant first impression. With 19 goals in all competitions this season, he has been one of the shining stars in a Hoops side that has struggled for a lot of the campaign.

Although it was initially thought that he would play more of a creative role, his output has made it clear that he is a goalscorer. He is perfect for popping up at the back post to tap it home when there’s chaos in the box, and his amazing movement is one reason why.

The player is only 24 years old and has yet to reach his potential. He is already looking amazing, so the question now is just how far the midfielder can go.

Celtic have struggled this season but he has pushed us on. We currently sit in second place, five points behind Hearts, but we’re still in the title race. Post-split games could be life or death for the Celts and we’ll need our biggest players to step up to the occasion. Nygren will be one of them, and he will be eager to do so. Lifting a trophy with the club would just add onto the amazing season he’s had.

Should Celtic cash in?
There will undoubtedly be a lot of interest in Nygren come the summer. If he continues to bag goals, which he likely will, then clubs will be lining up to potentially win his signature.

It’s likely that Celtic could win a large fee for the player should the club choose to move on. Of course, they’ll want to keep him on their books, but if an offer comes in that is simply too good to refuse, they may choose to cash in.

If Premier League clubs come calling, the appeal of a top-level league may also convince the player himself. It would likely be hard for him to turn down such a good opportunity, especially if it is for a so-called ‘big six’ club like Manchester United.

Celtic fans can be happy in the fact that, at least, we have him until the summer. What a player he is, and no doubt he will continue to push the Hoops on in the league.
