‘Already have a verbal agreement’ – Sky Sports confirm mixed news for Celtic

Posted on January 30, 2026 by Jsport

Sky Sports have confirmed some mixed news for Celtic as they look to get some deals done before the winter window closes.

With just a few days remaining in this winter transfer window, Celtic fans must be feeling a sense of deja vu with how things have turned out until now. The club have only been able to make a couple of additions to Martin O’Neill’s squad, despite them trailing Hearts in the title race by six points with 15 more league games to be played.

A lot more help was needed, that is for sure. Of course, Celtic still have a little bit more time on their hands to get things right. But considering how inefficient the recruitment team has been for years now, it would come as a surprise if they are able to achieve something significant between now and the end of the window.

A new winger seems to be near the top of the wishlist. Fares Ghedjemis of Frosinone is being viewed as the first-choice target in that respect. But the Hoops are also believed to have a backup option in the form of Dunajska Streda’s Damir Redzic. There is some mixed news though.

As reported by Sky Sports, Celtic and RB Salzburg are in talks to sign Redzic. The Austrian side already have a verbal agreement with the Hungarian international, but are struggling to agree a deal with his club. The Hoops have now entered the race and are working on a deal.

Redzic is someone Celtic have been linked with for a few weeks now. It is Ghedjemis whose name has cropped up out of nowhere over the last 48 hours or so, although he is now being viewed as the primary target to strengthen the flanks.

It is believed that Frosinone would like a transfer fee in the region of £6.5 million. That could make a move difficult.

As a result, keep an eye out on the Redzic situation as well. It is very possible that Celtic might decide to go after the alternative.
