Newcastle discuss moves for Camara, Guerra and Stuttgart loan star – Report

Posted on December 4, 2025 by Jsport

This week, Sporting Director Ross Wilson made one of his clearest hints yet on Newcastle’s transfer policy, revealing that it’s ‘highly likely’ we target more players outside of the Premier League.

With that in mind, it’s interesting to see a few new transfer links emerge this week, featuring three players currently impressing in France, Spain and Germany.

This comes from The Athletic, where North East correspondent Chris Waugh names Monaco’s Lamine Camara, Javi Guerra and Stuttgart loan star Bilal El Khannouss as potential ones to watch heading into 2026.

Waugh reveals that all three midfield talents have been discussed internally during recruitment meetings on Tyneside, with El Khannouss targeted over the summer before we opted for Jacob Ramsey instead, allowing the Moroccan to later join Stuttgart on loan.

Since joining Stuttgart, Nick Woltemade’s former club, the 21-year-old has shone with five goals and six assists in 17 games for the German side.

Camara, also 21, is a box-to-box Monaco midfielder who has shone in France and scored six goals in 23 games for Senegal, who he will represent at AFCON this month.

As for Guerra, he is a physical but technical Spanish Under-21 international who has come through the ranks at Valencia, playing over 100 times for the La Liga side and signing a new deal with the club until 2029 back in August.

While Guerra and Camara are more combative, energetic midfielders, El Khannous is more of an attacking talent who thrives in a number 10 role.

Another midfielder may not seem like a major priority right now, but with Joelinton approaching his 30s and Joe Willock tipped to depart in 2026 after interest from Crystal Palace, it’s no surprise to see us discussing potential options and alternatives to the highly sought after Kees Smit.
